I was freed when I had this revelation.\u00a0 It all started with a conversation with my mom.\u00a0 We were talking about my son.\u00a0 He\u2019s only a few months old, and is all about beating, tearing and ripping everything apart.\u00a0 She said I was nothing like that.\u00a0 Although I was tomboyish, I was very nurturing at his age.\u00a0 Girls must be naturally more loving and nurturing.\u00a0 No one taught me to be gentle and caring.\u00a0 No one taught him to see how strong he was against everything he can hold.\u00a0 That must be a part of nature.<\/p>\n

From that one conversation I went on a mental journey thinking different things about boys and girls.\u00a0 I ended up at the scriptures that tell wives to be in submission to their husbands.\u00a0 Many women cringe at those scriptures.\u00a0 You know the Bible tells both husbands and wives to be in submission to each other.\u00a0 \u201cBe subject to one another in the fear of Christ.\u201d (Ephesians 5:21<\/a>)\u00a0 So why are there separate scriptures pointing to women specifically?\u00a0 Let\u2019s read them.<\/p>\n

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.\u00a0 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.<\/p>\n

~\u00a0Colossians 3:18-19<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.\u00a0 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.\u00a0 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. \u00a0Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, \u2026 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must\u00a0 see to it\u00a0 that she respects her husband.<\/p>\n

~\u00a0Ephesians 5:22-25, 33<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What did it tell these scriptures tell the husbands to do?\u00a0 It told them to love their wives.\u00a0 Who loves others more easily, men or women?\u00a0 Women.\u00a0 Just like my mom comparing me as an infant to my son, girls are the loving, nurturing, caring ones.\u00a0 So that\u2019s why the Apostle Paul tells men to love their wives.\u00a0 This is not what comes naturally to them.\u00a0 They need to be reminded of this, because they could let that slip.\u00a0 So that means, what he tells the wives is NOT what comes naturally to THEM.\u00a0 He tells wives to submit.\u00a0 We are not the naturally submissive ones!\u00a0 What?!<\/p>\n

Think about it.\u00a0 When a new couple gets married, who chooses the wedding colors?\u00a0 The bride.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 If you ask the groom what colors, styles, etc. he usually answers, \u201cWhatever you want, honey, as long as you\u2019re happy.\u201d\u00a0 When they go out to eat, and the wife asks the husband where he wants to go, he normally says something like, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, where ever you want to go.\u201d\u00a0 Not always, but many times the wife names the kids, decorates the house, plans dinners, entertainment for the family, etc.\u00a0 Husbands easily yield these decisions over to their wives.\u00a0 Wives don\u2019t yield, or submit so easily.\u00a0 We\u2019re the ones that have a problem with submission.\u00a0 It is not that we are supposed to submit more than the husbands, we just have a problem with it!<\/p>\n

I was so freed when I understood this.\u00a0 My whole life I thought it was supposed to be my nature to submit because I was a girl.\u00a0 I struggled with trying to be submissive because that was becoming for a woman.\u00a0 I felt guilty because it was not easy.\u00a0 It\u2019s not supposed to be easy!\u00a0 Yes, we need to work on being submissive in all things, but I shouldn\u2019t feel guilty when it is not easy.\u00a0 It\u2019s easier for men to submit than for women.\u00a0 We need the reminder because we can let that slip.<\/p>\n
